Organic simplistic design, these baskets are handwoven from the Totora Reed, which grows in the coastal wetlands to the high plateaus of Lake Titicaca in Peru.
Perfect for storing everyday items or as a sculptural piece in your home.
Throughout history Totora has been used in Peru, most notably for fishing vessels dating back 3,000 years. In Lake Titicaca the Uros people live on floating islands made of Totora.
Made by a cooperative of artisans in Northern Peru, the stalks are first harvested, dried, and later woven into baskets.
These baskets are made by hand so variations and slight imperfections may occur. This naturally enhances its character and personality and makes it one of a kind.
