Mother's Day is fast approaching and I can't help but think about how the relationship between a mother and child is like no other.

Lands, written by Nayyirah Waheed reads:

"My mother was my first country.

the first place I ever lived."

This is true for all of us. From the beginning, a mother plays an integral role in shaping who we are and how we connect to the world and "country" beyond birth. To this day, my mother touches the world with kindness, love and empathy among other things. Her lessons are always with me and I'm so grateful to have a passport in her land and to to draw on her teachings.
